| Tell me no lies Scott,
having previously discovered Jeremy's secret relationship with his friend Brandon
and opting to let it remain a secret, is now walking a fine line with
Meredith who cannot stand deceit in any form. Guber offers the young
man his support and suggests that it would be best if he told his mother
about his situation. Jeremy refuses. A shocked Meredith later
approaches Scott with a revealing videotape taken from the Nanny-Cam she'd
had installed in Jeremy's bedroom. She confronts her son who then
accuses the Vice-Principal of betraying his secret. Meredith, also
feeling betrayed, is furious that Scott didn't come to her with this
knowledge and throws him out of her house. The
next day she pays a visit to school counselor Mr. Lick and explains the
situation with her son to him, as well as offering him a multitude of
reasons of how she caused him to be gay. Scott later approaches her
in her classroom and informs her as to why he withheld the
information from her. In turn, Meredith confesses her fears to Scott
and reaches out to him.
In
addition to dealing with Jeremy's homosexuality, Scott has to defend the
school play against a group of parents who are circulating a petition to
have it shut down. This movement is being led by none other than
Mrs. "Smell this shoe" Parks (Cleo
King). Guber sets her straight in a hurry
that the play will indeed go on.
It's the Principal of the thing
Harper
speaks with attorney Arthur Ryan on the matter of Wesley Poe (RonReaco
Lee), a former
Winslow High student now sitting on Death Row in Delaware for the brutal
rape and murder of a teenage girl. Wesley has fond remembrances of
spending Thanksgiving some years ago with the Harper family, and wishes
for Stephen to attend his execution so he doesn't have to die
alone. Harper doesn't even recall the young man on whom whom
he obviously made a large impression.
While a visit from the victim's father, Charles Bailey,
plants seeds of doubt in
Harper's mind about attending, Wesley's pleas and apparent remorse win
Stephen over. But when Brooke visits him in his office, Stephen
stops viewing the situation through the eyes of Wesley's former teacher
and starts looking at it from the perspective of a father with a teenage
daughter. He sends his last-minute regrets to Wesley via his
attorney.

Ronnie
Cooke has trouble dealing with Zack DelRay (Victor
Z. Isaac), a student whose Attention
Deficit Disorder disrupts her class. Upon talking with Danny Hansen,
she discovers that Zack's condition seems manageable when he is medicated
with Ritalin. However, Zack's parents feel that the meds cloud their
son's personality, and even Zack expresses a frustration that the
"gatekeeper" pills shut down his musical and artistic gifts.
As Ronnie pushes for Zack to be returned to the meds in
order to help him focus
on his class work, Danny reveals that he took Ritalin as a child, and that
at that time it carried a tremendous amount of social stigma and personal
shame with it. Zack goes back on the meds, while Ronnie makes
arrangements for him to be the pianist for Marilyn Sudor's singing group
in the hopes that it will keep the youngster's astounding musical gifts
active. But Zack's lackluster performance and forlorn expression
leave Ronnie wondering if she truly pushed for what was best for
Zack.
